Speaking at level A2 — how the conversation with the examiner goes
Speaking is the shortest part (10–15 minutes in person or by video call) and the only one where a person, not an answer key, grades you. Three tasks: questions about you, two pictures and questions about advertisements. Intelligibility, vocabulary, grammar and fluency are assessed — not your accent.

Technique: an answer = 2–3 sentences
Don’t answer “Kur jūs dzīvojat?” with one word. Formula: fact + detail + attitude: “Es dzīvoju Rīgā, Purvciemā. Mums ir divistabu dzīvoklis. Man patīk, ka blakus ir parks.” For pictures — three questions in order: who? doing what? where?
Typical mistakes
One-word answers; mixing up es/viņš (es dzīvoju ↔ viņš dzīvo); skipping the experience question (in task 2 a “Vai jūs…?” always follows the picture); in task 3 asking about the examiner instead of the ad. Long pauses cost more than a small grammar slip.
How to practise here
Every topic has 10 questions with model answers and translation, two pictures with a model description, three ads with model questions. Record yourself (the recording stays in your browser), compare with the model and tick what worked. The score is a self-assessment against the criteria; in the real test examiners do it.

Which two questions should you ask?
- Cik maksā istaba mēnesī? Vai istabā ir mēbeles?
- Kur ir centrs? Kas ir istaba?
- Vai jūs dzīvojat centrā? Cik jums gadu?
Answer and why
The first — questions ABOUT the ad (price, furniture), which is exactly what the task asks. The second asks about the words, the third about the examiner, not the offer.
