Reading at level A2 — how the test is built
Reading is the second part of the test: 30 minutes, 3 tasks, 15 points. The texts are everyday — text messages, notices in the stairwell, e-mails, advertisements, recipes. The hardest is task 2: 12 advertisements, 6 of them extra and deliberately similar to the right ones.

Technique: person first, then the ads
In task 2 read the person’s description and underline 2–3 key words (family, long term, furnished). Then look for the ad that has ALL three, not just one. An ad with a single match is usually a trap.
Typical mistakes
In task 1 choosing a statement that is “almost” true (lunch at a café ≠ at home). In task 3 choosing the right stem in the wrong case — check what stands before the word: a preposition (uz, ar, par) or a number (trīs gadus).
How to practise here
Every topic has a reading exercise in the 4 + 6 + 5 format. After answering in “Learning” mode you see the text with the evidence sentence highlighted and a “why” for each gap. Cases in gaps — grammar module 3 and the letters with every word analysed.
Example (task 3)
“Mani sauc Ruslans, un es dzīvoju Latvijā jau trīs ___.”

- gadus
- gadi
- gada
Answer and why
gadus — after “trīs” duration takes the accusative plural. “Gadi” is nominative (Gadi iet), “gada” genitive (gada beigās).
