Cik? Daudzums, cena, nauda

Cik — how much/many

Cik tas maksā? (how much does it cost) · Cik tev gadu? (how old are you) · Cik cilvēku? (how many people) · Cik ilgi? (how long) · Cik tālu? (how far) · Cik bieži? (how often).

After cik comes the genitive plural: cik cilvēku, cik gadu, cik eiro.

Quantity words + genitive

nedaudz / mazliet (a little) nedaudz cukura
pietiekami (enough) pietiekami naudas
pārāk daudz (too much) pārāk daudz kafijas

glāze, tase, kilograms, litrs glāze ūdens, tase kafijas, kilograms ābolu

But: vairāki (several) and daži (some) agree like adjectives: vairāki cilvēki, dažas dienas.

Money

eiro does not decline: viens eiro, pieci eiro, simts eiro. cents / centi: piecdesmit centu. Price: Tas maksā divus eiro piecdesmit (2.50).divus is in the accusative after maksāt!

Cik tas maksā?Trīs eiro. / Tas ir dārgi / lēti. / Vai ir atlaide? (discount) / Rēķinu, lūdzu. (the bill, please) / Ar karti vai skaidrā naudā? (by card or cash).

Comparing quantity

vairāk (more) / mazāk (less) + genitive: vairāk laika, mazāk cukura. tikpat daudz — just as much. par daudz — too much.

1) How much does this cost? — Ten euros. 2) I have little time. 3) A cup of tea, please. 4) How old are you? — 35.

Answers 1) Cik tas maksā? — Desmit eiro. 2) Man ir maz laika. 3) Tasi tējas, lūdzu. 4) Cik tev gadu? — Trīsdesmit pieci.
