The pronouns pats, pati, paši, pašas
Vietniekvārdi pats, pati, paši, pašas
These correspond to English "myself/himself/herself/ourselves" (emphatic "self") and also to "the very same." They agree with the noun or pronoun they modify.

Meanings
- Myself/personally: Es pats to izdarīju (I did it myself). Viņa pati atnāca (She came herself). Mēs paši gatavojam (We cook it ourselves).
- The very same, exactly: tajā pašā dienā (on that very day), tas pats cilvēks (the same person); tas pats = the same thing: Man to pašu, lūdzu! (The same for me, please!)
- The very (extreme point): pašā sākumā (right at the beginning), pašā centrā (right in the center), pašā augšā (right at the top).
Set phrases
- pats par sevi — self-evidently (Tas ir pats par sevi saprotams — that goes without saying)
- sev pašam / pašai — to oneself
- pats galvenais — the most important thing
- tas pats / tā pati — the same one (masc./fem.)
